Organizational Structure

Department of Medicine, University of Veterinary Science, is organized by nine teaching staff and six office staff. The organizational structure of department is one professor, two Associate Professor, three Lecturers and four Assistant Lecturers. Professor Dr. Hlaing Hlaing Myint is head of Department of Medicine.

Responsible Subjects

Department of Medicine is responsible for teaching of three subjects, Preventive Medicine, Clinical Medicine, and Animal Health. Animal Health is taught to third year students from Bachelor of Animal Science (BASc), Clinical Medicine is taught to fourth year DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) students and Preventive Medicine is delivered to final year DVM students by theoretically and practically. Other departmental activities are responsible for supervising the Master and Doctorate students, final year graduation thesis, theme paper writing and presentation and invitation of external Lecturer to deliver their experience.

Field of Study

The field studies of Department of Medicine are:

1. Prevalence studies of common infectious diseases of food producing animals.

2. Assessment of efficacy of commercially available vaccines in chickens.

3. Alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in livestock production.

4. Nutritional modulation of immune response in poultry.

5. Prevalence of Mycotoxins in feed and feedstuffs, and 6. Diagnosis and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows.
